Classroom Technology Tiers

The Learning Environment Committee (formerly the Classroom Environment Committee) has been developing standards for Binghamton University's general purpose classrooms. Our first phase of this effort is now complete, which is a recommendation to establish three classroom technology tiers, each with specific educational technologies installed. We will continue to expand this proposal with more detailed requirements for lighting, sound systems, accessibility, wiring, seating and user interfaces.

These are minimum standards. If there is a need for additional instructional technologies in a particular classroom (say Art History would like a room with two slide projectors and screens), these standards are not intended to preclude such enhancements.
